Product Licensing Summary
ActiveBatch Workload Automation ServerProduct Edition supports all Microsoft Windows Server and Professional/Workstation type platforms. Prior to ActiveBatch V10, the ActiveBatch Enterprise Server and Datacenter Server editions were meant to mirror Microsoft’s licensing of their servers editions. As this product edition distinction was ultimately removed by Microsoft, the same occurred within ActiveBatch. Consequently, the ActiveBatch Enterprise Server edition also supported Microsoft’s Datacenter Server. Starting with V10, we have removed the distinction to avoid confusion.
Licensing a single copy of this edition includes the following:
-
Unlimited deployment of the ActiveBatch Console GUI component (thick client) that executes on Windows.
-
Unlimited deployment of the PowerShell component.
-
Unlimited deployment of ActiveBatch Web Services (JSSWS).
-
Unlimited deployment of ActiveBatch REST API.
-
Unlimited deployment of the ActiveBatch COM interface (this interface can also be used by .Net framework supported programs).
-
A single Job Scheduler component, running on Microsoft Windows, which supports Cross-Platform scheduling. Cross-Platform support is included as part of the standard ActiveBatch license for new licensees. This allows non-Microsoft Windows Execution Agents to be licensed and deployed.
Note: No Execution Agent licensing is included. You must purchase Execution Agent points to be able to dispatch jobs to execution systems.
Normally customers will license one or more Workload Automation Server(s) and license a quantity of points necessary to execute jobs on their desired execution machines. Advanced Systems also provides options for Site and Enterprise level Execution Agent deployment (and a VM host license). Please contact your Account Manager and/or Sales for more information on these and other licensing options.
The following point values are assigned, depending on the type of Execution Agent you deploy.
-
Apple MAC OS 15 points
-
IBM OS400 (i5OS) 15 points
-
HP NSK 15 points
-
HP OpenVMS 20 points
-
Microsoft Windows (x86, x64) 10 points
-
Linux 10 points
-
UNIX 15 point
ActiveBatch Execution Agents may be deployed on Windows systems, Linux, Sun Solaris (Sparc, x86, x64), IBM AIX, HP NSK, HP-UX and HP OpenVMS (see Operating Systems for the latest version information). Non-Windows kits include a SmartInstaller for many of the Linux kit variations and then specific kits for many of the others (i.e. OpenVMS, etc.). The My ASCI Downloads section for ActiveBatch indicates specifically which kit(s) support which OS.
The Client software components included with ActiveBatch are available for Windows use.
ActiveBatch also supports a series of layered products that can be purchased to provide even more functionality. For example, the ActiveBatch Web Console allows the use of Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Apple’s Safari, and Mozilla Firefox browsers as ActiveBatch clients. This means you can access ActiveBatch from across the Internet using a wide variety of hardware/software platforms.
Note: The Job Scheduler component is expected to be installed on a Microsoft Windows Server OS platform only. Installation of the Job Scheduler on a Desktop OS should be considered for temporary testing purposes only. This limitation is required to be in compliance with Microsoft’s EULA licensing since use of the Desktop OS as a Server is considered a violation of Microsoft’s terms.
