Software Prerequisites for Job Steps
Many of the ActiveBatch Job Steps within the Integrated Jobs Library (a type of ActiveBatch job) have certain software pre-requisites. ActiveBatch Job Steps have a design time and a run time aspect. The design time portion of the Job Step is used for you to fill-in-the-form to derive the benefits of the underlying Job Step. To help you complete the Job Step, various “helpers” are available that, typically, enumerate various objects and other information the Job Step requires. These helpers run in the security context of the Job Scheduler service. When applicable, this means that the Job Scheduler machine may require certain software to be loaded. Pre-requisites for the run-time portion of the Job Step are self-explanatory. For example, ActiveBatch can’t execute an SSIS package unless that software has been installed on the Execution Machine.
The ActiveBatch Jobs Library Reference Manual provides a complete guide for each job step as to what the software pre-requisites are, and what the requirements are for design time (on the Job Scheduler machine) and run time (on the Execution Machine) time. The following information summarizes those requirements.
For UNIX/Linux support, JRE V1.8 is required. Any additional requirements are as noted. N/A means that no support is offered for the step on that operating system; None means that no special software pre-requisites are required other than those stated above. The job steps noted below assume that Java Workflow Host support is enabled (otherwise support will be the same as for V9).
Note: Additional job steps are available by purchasing specific ActiveBatch Extensions (for example, SAP, Informatica, Netezza, VMware, etc.). Those extensions will also have their own software pre-requisites that are discussed in the ActiveBatch Extensions Guide.
