Reporting Services Overview
ActiveBatch provides Instance and Template reporting. Instance reporting is empowered with online analytical processing (OLAP), and allows your business to collect and process job history (instance data) to create useful reports to view or print. Template Reporting allows you to report on all of the various ActiveBatch objects.
Reporting Services is an optional installation feature you will see when running the ActiveBatch Windows installation kit. If you opt to install Reporting Services (it is installed by default), post-installation configuration is required. The installation process and post-installation configuration are documented in the ActiveBatch Installation and Administrator's Guide.
ActiveBatch Instance Reporting Services
In order to create the ActiveBatch reports, Job/Plan instance data needs to be collected and added to the Instance Reporting database where it can be processed into OLAP cubes. The cubes contain aggregates, trends and other statistical information, which are updated every time it is processed with new data.
While the Installation and Administrator's Guide provides step-by-step configuration information for Instance Reporting, below is a high-level list of what needs to be done to use the Instance Reporting facility.
-
Create an Instance Reporting database
-
Load data from the Job Scheduler database into the Instance Reporting database
-
Create the OLAP cubes and process them with new data
-
Deploy and run reports
ActiveBatch Template Reporting Services
In order to be able to utilize ActiveBatch Template Reporting, data needs to be collected into the Template Reporting database. After a Template Reporting database has been created, multiple Job Schedulers are able to use the same Template Reporting database.
For the complete documentation of the Template Reporting schema as well as some key concepts and sample reports discussing how to access that data, please refer to the ActiveBatch Template Reporting CHM file.
