Self-Service Portal Users Guide
The ActiveBatch Self-Service Portal is a web-based interface. This means that no special software needs to be installed other than the usual web browsers you probably already have. In any event, your ActiveBatch or IT Administrator will help ensure you have the proper web browser or communicate which ones are supported for SSP use.
To use the SSP, your ActiveBatch Administrator should provide a starting URL that you will most likely save as a Favorite for your web browser. The URL will look something like this although the actual values will be completely different.
http://v10featuretest/abatselfserviceportalv12/?objectid=48944&scheduler=v10featuretest
The first portion of the URL indicates the precise location of the system that is hosting the SSP software. The “scheduler” keyword contains the value of the ActiveBatch Job Scheduler system name and the remaining keywords (“objectid”, etc) are the province of the SSP system itself. When executed, you will see a web page similar to the one below.

Logon Page
Normally you will only be required to enter the first two (2) fields. The remaining fields are grayed out and disabled as they were provided by your administrator as part of the URL you were given. Typically your Username and Password will be your Windows login credentials.

After a successful login you will be presented with a web page that contains a similar layout. Two (2) views are available: Tile and List. Tile is the default. We’ll discuss the List View later in the document.
Home Page
The Home page consists of several sections. We’ll discuss the general layout and common sections first. Successive sections will discuss each main section separately.
Banner
The Banner section is the topmost section. The Banner may contain your company’s customized logo or signature. To the right, three (3) icons are used for, respectively, Logoff, Help and About.
Banner
Navigation
The upper leftmost section contains the Navigation area. History and Settings are also accessible from this area.
Properties
The lower leftmost section contains the Properties area. The Properties area is further subdivided into Run Info and Logs when an object is selected.
Main
The Main area contains the information that is selected from the Navigation section. For example, when an item in Navigation is selected, the Run List and Watch List areas are typically displayed.
Log View
The Log View section at the lowest portion of the web page contains those messages that concern the SSP system as well as Plans or Jobs you’re running and whether they have completed successfully or not.
Common
Each area, except the Main area, contains a collapsible arrow indicator to the extreme right that allows you to hide the section. The Main area contains a left arrow that allows you to compress either the Run List or Watch List (thereby making the other List area larger). The compressed list is then displayed on the left side of the Main area.

The Main area Navigation Page is typically the most examined web page for SSP usage. The area is divided into the Run List and Watch List (if no objects are within a particular list then that list will not be displayed).
Each object displayed is either a Plan or Job. Icons signify the completion status of the last instance.
Navigation View (Graphical)
For example, CaseStudy2 shows a green checked mark indicating that the object last succeeded. Likewise, CaseStudy3 shows a red x indicating that the object last failed.

The Run List contains those objects that the administrator or application manager has provided you with access for ad-hoc running of those workflows or jobs. If you right-click on the object you’ll be presented with two (2) operations for a non-running workflow or job: Run and History. Run, of course, indicates that you want to run the workflow or job. If you select Run and the workflow or job requires you to input data, a grid will appear with each required parameter and an area for you to enter the required value. If the workflow or job doesn’t require any input data, the workflow or job will begin to run and will look like this:
The icon is replaced with a progress wheel that visually shows the workflow running and also an estimate as to what percentage of the workflow is completed and how much time is left.

Workflows and jobs, which aren’t disabled or being held, are eligible to be ad-hoc run via the Run command. To run a workflow/job, simply right-click on the desired workflow or job and select the “Run” command. If the workflow/job has required input that must be set, that request will appear next; otherwise the workflow or job will begin execution. If the workflow or job is executing, the Cancel command is available to cancel or abort the workflow or job.
To obtain History on a selected workflow or job, right-click and select History. This will select the History view and populate that view with previous instances of the workflow or job that have completed.

As the name indicates this list contains workflows and/or jobs that you cannot directly run but that you can watch as they execute. Typically these workflows or jobs are on a schedule or are run based on some event that occurs. When the workflow or job is on a schedule, an alarm clock icon will appear. If you hover over that icon, a tool tip will be displayed with the next date and time the workflow or job is expected to run.

The Filter Bar allows you to filter the workflows or jobs based on their completion states. For example, you can decide to view only those workflows/jobs that succeeded or failed. In addition, the Layout type allows you to choose whether the Navigation View is in graphical mode (default) or list mode.
This is an example of the Run and Watch lists displayed in Grid layout.
Navigation View (List)
When the resolution for the browser display is large enough, the Watch and Run Lists are shown side by side, for example:
Navigation View (Side-by-Side)

Batch View allows you to drill down into a workflow and see the component job(s) and/or workflow(s) that comprise that workflow. For example:
Batch View
In this example, JobA and JobB comprise the workflow CaseStudy2. The green boxes to the left of the job icons indicate that the jobs completed successfully.

When using SSP on a Tablet, for example, an Apple iPad, SSP can adapt to either portrait or landscape mode. For example:
Tablet Landscape Mode
The last column with the button of three horizontal lines only appears on the iPad and is used for triggering a job or workflow or requesting history.

Success Icon appears when a workflow has successfully completed without any errors.
Failed Icon appears when a workflow has failed due to errors like invalid credentials.
Canceled Icon appears when the business user uses the “cancel” option from the context menu to cancel the workflow that is currently running. While a workflow is running, a business user might cancel a workflow if there were any incorrect details entered.
Never Ran Icon appears when a workflow has never run before. This icon usually appears when a new workflow has been created.
Percent Icon appears when a workflow is currently running. It shows the completed percentage for the workflow.

The History view allows you to see those instances of workflows and jobs that either you ran or ones that you are watching that are scheduled to run or have already run. The History view contains a date selector allowing you to isolate specific instances based on a range of dates and times. By default, the 24-hour period of Today is specified.
History
You can click on the plus sign (+) to expand any workflows and see the underlying jobs and sub-workflows.
This view allows you to Restart an instance. Simply right-click on the instance and select the Restart operation.

The Properties view is loaded whenever a workflow or job is selected. General properties are shown including any run-time or completion information, when available.
Properties (General)
The Properties section is composed of two (2) tabs. Run Info and Logs. Run Info provides a quick synopsis of the job or workflow (plan) that is running or has completed. State, for example, provides a quick indication as to whether the job or workflow completed successfully or not. The Logs tab provides more information as to what the job or workflow actually did. Logs is a good place to begin when a failure occurs.

Settings
This option allows you to control the preferences for how dates and times are displayed. In addition, you can control whether absolute date and time is used in the Run and Watch Lists or whether a relative time should be shown.
