Job Scheduler - Find
The Job Scheduler object has a right-click menu option named Find. Find options include: Object in Tree, Advanced Search, and Property Sheet
Find > Object in Tree- Finds an object in the Navigation pane.
Find > Object in Tree provides a method for searching for objects based the object’s ID number or full path. This menu selection displays a simple dialog box prompting for the ID or full path. When properly entered, the system selects the object in the Navigation tree.
Note: All objects are system-assigned an object ID which is located on the object's General property sheet. The object's full path is specified there as well.
Find > Advanced Search - Finds an object in the Navigation Pane.
Find > Advanced Search provides a method for searching for objects based on one or more data values.
Note: Ctrl/F is the hotkey combination you can use to launch the Advanced Search dialog.
The following fields comprise the Search object dialog:
Scheduler to Search: From the dropdown, select the Scheduler to search. This is required since you are allowed to connect to more than one Scheduler in a single WebConsole session.
Find what: Enter data that defines the search. Data that may be entered includes wildcard characters (*, %). Phrases may be entered as a quoted string (i.e. “web service”). By default, this field is filled in with the last data you entered.
Under: This option allows you to start the search from the root of the Scheduler ("/") or from a specific Plan or Folder. It's similar to searching for files in a Windows folder. You can change the scope by clicking on the rightmost dropdown arrow, then selecting a Folder or Plan.
Recursive (Search within plans):This checkbox allows the system to search nested Plans and Folders for the desired object. The system will search recursively within the starting container, which is the Scheduler root, Folder or Plan selected in the above-described Under option.
Filter: This is a dropdown of all the ActiveBatch object types. You may narrow the search to specific object types by clicking on the dropdown arrow and making your selection(s). By default, all object types are checked.
Fields (Search Only Name & Label): This option allows you to limit the object properties that will be searched to only Name and Label. All non-collection properties are available for search. For example, if you tend to add comments to Jobs Library Job steps, the comments field will be part of the search (if you do not limit the search to Name & Label).
Limit: You can specify the maximum amount of results you would like to see returned in the results grid.
When the Search button is clicked, the results grid is populated with matches, providing there are objects that meet your search criteria. You can optionally examine the objects found in greater detail (use right-click menu options). The example below recursively searched all objects, starting at the root of the Scheduler, for a Find What value of “casestud” using Name and Label fields only.
Find > Property Sheet - Pulls up the property sheets for the object specified.
Find > Property Sheets provides a method for pulling up the property sheets of the object identified using its ID number or full path. This menu selection displays a simple dialog box prompting for the ID or full path. When properly entered, the system tabs the object's property sheets in the Main view.
