Rebooting an Execution Agent System
If you are stopping or closing a queue because an Execution Agent system needs to be rebooted, make sure executing jobs (if any) have run to completion. There are several ways to see if any jobs are running on a queue. For example, you can view the Analytics property sheet of the Execution Queue you are stopping (or if the Execution Queue is a member of the Generic Queue you are stopping). When viewing the Analytics property sheet, you will see a counters pane that indicates how many jobs are executing. You can also use the Queue Counters view to see the number of executing jobs, if any. Access to Queue Counters is via the Views pane. Note that both of these options required a manual refresh to see the latest totals.
Note: If you reboot an Execution Agent while ActiveBatch jobs are running, the status of those instances will be initially be "orphaned". When the Scheduler reconnects to the Agent, the orphaned instances will be marked "lost", because the Execution Agent will not be able to report back to the Scheduler what happened to those jobs, since they were terminated during the system reboot.
